I’m back after a short hiatus. I took the Cavs exit from the playoffs pretty hard so motivation was running low. Nothing like a full 4-day weekend of excess to give you a quick jump start. I hit up the Brasa Grill in downtown Cleveland (take an extra stomach with you if you go), checked out VJ Impulse at Shooters, and got to hang out with my boys Hodge and D-Banks in Oberlin for the first time in years. But by far, the money shot for this weekend was the GZA’s show at The Grog Shop over in Conventry. It was my first time at that venue even though I’ve been itching to go for years – I missed an RJD2 gig there a month or so ago that I’m still a bit salty about. A mere $15 price tag to see what I consider the best MC in the Wu Tang Clan was too inviting to pass on so I felt I was compelled to be in attendance.

Subsoniq was a show on Sirius Backspin channel that I used to listen to fairly frequently on Tuesday nights. They featured current artists that still produced hip hop both in its classic form and in a more progressive melodic form. They’d also get interviews with some greats in the industry – their interview with De La Soul was absolutely riveting to me and although I didn’t mention them by name in my blogpost about refocusing my DJ career, the show’s existence did play a part in it.
The show was recently canceled but to their credit the guys haven’t given up and are set to relaunch their show on Thursday this week. I’m adding them permanently to the Links section here. If you are a fan of real hip hop on any level, check these cats out because they know what they’re talking about.

New Gaga/Beyonce Video FTW!I’ve been hearing this little collabo between Lady Gaga and Beyonce on Sirius BPM now for about two months (I’ve yet to acquire the dance mix of it but believe me its on the way) and if you haven’t seen the now finished 9+ minute video for it get ready because this thing is no doubt going to get beat into your head with a swiftness.
To sum up:
Half naked Gaga – check
References to Gaga being a hermaphrodite – check
Female inmates – check
Tyrese Gibson dying – check
Beyonce doing her Beyonce thing – check
and last but certainly not least the Pussy Wagon from Kill Bill – checkmate
Video (courtesy of AOL via HipHopSite.com) under the jump. Is it safe for work? Did ya read the checklist?

I can see why this won an Oscar
This is the winner of the Oscar for Best Animated Short film “Logorama” and all I can say is that its 16 minutes of pure awesome. “Ronald McDonald packing heat” is enough to get me excited alone but that’s like one of about two dozen things to love about it. There is some language (quite a bit actually) in this one so don’t play it out loud around the kiddies.
